To allow Fairleigh Kindergarten to operate 20 hours ECE, whilst retaining the sessional nature and the ability to offer an extended transition to school group session, we now operate under an all day licence. We have been advised by the Ministry of Education to alter our morning kindergarten session times to ensure that the transition to school group and afternoon kindergarten sessions do not overlap. The following times are effective from 2 Feburary 2010:
Afternoon Sessions are held:
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 1 pm and 3.30pm.
These sessions are for children aged between 3 and 4 years.
Morning Sessions are held:
Monday/Tuesday and Thursday between 8.40am and 11.40am
Wednesday and Friday 8.40am - 12.55pm
Children participate in a lunchtime routine on these two sessions
These sessions are for children aged between 4 and 5 years.
Transition to School Group:
Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs/Frid 8:40am - 12:55pm
*** Please ensure that children are not dropped off before the beginning of session and/or picked up after the session has finished because our licence conditions state our teacher/child ratios. Children who are dropped off early or collected late not only impinge on the licence conditions, they also require the kindergarten to provide extra staffing for these children.
*** Children who are dropped off early/picked up late will incur a fee, initially $20, to cover staffing required for our licence.
Thank you for your continued support during the transition to 20 hours ECE.
The kindergarten observes the same terms and breaks as primary schools, including
public holidays. Term breaks will be advised each term in our newsletters.
* Note: Centre closed all public holidays
Fairleigh Kindergarten Incorporated operates under the Ministry of Education's 20 Hours Early Childhood Education funding structure, which funds twenty hours of early childhood education per child per week.
Parents/caregivers may choose where they allocate those twenty hours, between various early childhood education providers.
By way of background, children in Afternoon sessions at Fairleigh attend 7.50 hours per week, those in Morning sessions attend 17.50 hours per week, and children in the Transition to School programme attend 21.25 hours per week. Generally, if parents/caregivers allocate their child's government funded twenty hours per week to Fairleigh, the Ministry of Education will cover all the attendance fees. One exception to this is that parents/caregivers of Transition to School children are required to pay attendance fees relating to the 1.25 hours per week that their child attends Fairleigh in excess of 20.00 hours (normally at the current rate of $4.06 + GST per hour).
Where a child's 20 hours per week are used for early childhood education/care other than at Fairleigh, the situation changes. As the government has already funded early childhood education/care for these children it does not fully subsidise the cost of their attendance at Fairleigh. This means that parents/caregivers of these children need to pay fees to cover the cost of their child attending Fairleigh. The rates for these children are as follows:
Hours above 20 hours per week and up to and including 30 hours per week, parents pay $4.06 + GST per hour.
Hours above 30.00 hours per week, parents pay $10.98 + GST per hour.
Membership Fees are charged in addition to the above at the current rates of $50.00 + GST per term for all children attending afternoon sessions and $100.00 + GST per term for children attending morning sessions.
The above summary indicates the situation as at February 2010 and is subject to change. This summary is indicative only and parents/caregivers need to make their own investigations in relation to the above
